Mmmm…Ethiopian food…in Switzerland??

I was recently in Lausanne, Switzerland (beautiful city, I forgot what mountains look like, much less how to maneuver them in heels...) for work. We asked a local Ethiopian restaurant to perform a true Ethiopian coffee ceremony (Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee) at our forum and decided to visit the restaurant the night before. This was my first experience with Ethiopian food. You tear off pieces of the spongey pancake underneath and use that in your hand to scoop up a bit of food from the colorful piles…some beans, veggies, cheese and meat (the pink color is raw meat…ick!). However, it was a very cool experience and really sweet people. My favorite was the drive from the Geneva airport to Lausanne and all the fields of sunflowers in between.
